What is OpenMandriva Linux?
OpenMandriva distribution is a full-featured Linux desktop and server by OpenMandriva Association. It is based on ROSA, a Russian Linux distribution project which forked Mandriva Linux in 2012, incorporating many of Mandriva's original tools and utilities and adding in-house enhancements. OpenMandriva Lx 3.0 New Features and Improvements
OpenMandriva Lx 3.0 features the Calamares system installer, improved boot times and has been compiled using the Clang/LLVM compiler. OpenMandriva Lx is a cutting edge distribution compiled with LLVM/clang. Combined with the high level of optimization used for both code and linking (by enabling LTO) used in its building, this gives the OpenMandriva desktop an unbelievably crisp response to operations on the KDE Plasma 5 desktop which makes it a pleasure to use. The latest release of all the KDE apps is there to support the desktop and help give you a consistent feel. Main features: KDE Plasma 5.6.5, KDE Frameworks 5.24.0, KDE Applications 16.04.3, Linux kernel 4.6.5, systemd 231, X.Org Server 1.18.3, Mesa 12.0.1, F2FS support - a filesystem for SSDs. This release of OpenMandriva Lx supports booting and installation with and without UEFI.
OpenMandriva Lx 3.0 Recommended Hardware
- OpenMandriva Lx 3.0 requires at least 1.6 GB of memory (min 1GB), at least 10 GB of hard drive space (see below for known issues with partitioning).
- If you wish to run the live distribution (the option to Start OpenMandriva Lx at the CD boot screen), you must have at minimum 1.5 GB of memory. At least 2 GB of memory is recommended for optimal performance.
- Release is available for x86_64 architecture, The i586 and ARM architectures are being worked on, but are not yet available for this release.
- The KDE Plasma Desktop requires a 3D graphics card that supports OpenGL 2.0 or above.
- The same hardware requirements apply when running in virtual machines.
