What is SliTaz GNU/Linux?
SliTaz GNU/Linux is a light-weight, community-based Linux distribution suitable for use on older hardware. SliTaz is less than 30MB, but it packs a graphical desktop environment and an amazing array of applications. It uses BusyBox, a recent Linux kernel and GNU software. It boots with Syslinux and provides more than 200 Linux commands, the lighttpd web server, SQLite database, rescue tools, IRC client, SSH client and server powered by Dropbear, X window system, JWM (Joe's Window Manager), gFTP, Geany IDE, Mozilla Firefox, AlsaPlayer, GParted, a sound file editor and more. The SliTaz ISO image fits on a less than 30 MB media and takes just 80 MB of hard disk space. SliTaz 4.0 provides a complete graphical desktop in 35 MB based on LXDE and Openbox that works entirely in 192 MB of RAM. Its new 4-in-1 CD image can be installed on a hard drive with only 48 MB by automatically selecting a configuration most fully suited to your hardware. The home-made tools have grown.
